Ian Lancaster

Ian Lancaster founded Reconnaissance International and is its Managing Director. He developed Holography News and Authentication News, and led the company's expansion into conferences, executive briefings and workshops. He has many years' experience in security and anti-counterfeiting as well as all aspects of holography and undertaken many of Reconnaissance's major consulting contracts, including multi-client industry surveys, due diligence reports and business strategy development projects. He has also served as the general secretary to the International Hologram Manufacturers Association since its foundation in 1994.

Ian holds an honours degree and a postgraduate business studies diploma. Prior to joining Reconnaissance, he was founder/director of the hologram manufacturer Third Dimension Ltd, and later served as Executive Director of the Museum of Holography, New York. He is security-cleared by Interpol for access to some of its databases.

 

Astrid Mitchell

Astrid Mitchell has a 25-year commercial career within the banknote, authentication and holographic industries in marketing, research, product development and public relations. She began her career with De La Rue, the world's largest commercial banknote and security printer in a variety of marketing, research and PR roles and served as Marketing & PR Director for the publicly-listed hologram company Applied Optical Technologies plc during its major growth period from 1993 to 2001 as well as Marketing Director for the brand protection division of the German banknote printers Bundesdruckerei. She edits Currency News and Tax Stamp News and is responsible for associated publications and activities in the currency, tax stamp and document protection markets.

Astrid has been involved in company acquisitions and disposals and the marketing of products internationally. She specialises in the evaluation of opportunities, business development, strategic and operational marketing, analysis and communications within the secure document and banknote sectors.

She holds an honours degree in politics and is a member of the Chartered Institute of Marketing.

 

Glenn Wood

Dr Glenn Wood has a 25 year background in all aspects of protection systems for branded goods, documents and revenue. After obtaining a science doctorate at Oxford University in 1978, he wrked with Ilford Ltd on the development of holographic materials and then at OpSec Security Group as VP Business Development for security products, where he developed an international network of distributors for security products and services. He has been involved in all aspects of the development, marketing and sales of security features, especially optically variable devices.

Glenn also chaired the Current Technology Task Force for US Chamber of Commerce (CACP), reviewing industry trends in product protection technology, and  has written and lectured widely on all aspects of counterfeiting and piracy and the technologies that can be used to combat these crimes..

He joined Reconnaissance in 2007 and is primarily responsible for technology awareness and legislative developments with particular reference to the Americas. He is a frequent speaker at international conventions, a regular contributor to Authentication News and Holography News and is Co-Editor of the newly launched Tax Stamp News.

 

Randall Burgess

Randall Burgess, who joined Reconnaisssance International in January 2010 as VP for the Americas, is experienced in brand protection, product security, and logistical security. His 20-year career has been spent  in business development, new product commercialization, and complex project management supporting North American and global companies, with key industries of expertise including printing, electronics, pharmaceuticals, luxury products, and automotive. Previous positions have been held with UNC-Greensboro, Acheson Colloids, Advanced Silicon Materials, Spraylat and, most recently tesa scribos, where he was Business Development Manager.

Randall's  primary focus with Reconnaissance is on developing and maintaining key relationship in the authentication and product security user and supplier community. Specific responsibilities include the secretariat function of the International Authentication Association (IAA), consultancy for brand owners and providers, and maangement of the company's pharmaceutical anticounterfeiting and product authentication publications and events.
